Peter Gad Naschitz is one of the firm's founding partners, and is located in the Tel-Aviv office. He heads the firm’s insurance, maritime, banking and litigation practice. Mr. Naschitz initiated the firm’s involvement in the insurance, maritime, banking and litigation areas and has been the cornerstone for the firm’s international practice in representing leading worldwide firms, banks, insurers, re-insurers and ship-owners. Mr. Naschitz acts for major Israeli and international insurance and reinsurance companies, rendering advice, providing general representation in litigation and subrogation matters, as well as assisting with regulatory issues for leading U.S. and U.K. insurers with respect to licensing in Israel. Mr. Naschitz heads the firm’s representation of mass tort and class action claims. Mr. Naschitz’s practice in maritime law includes recovery and subrogation claims, large total loss claims, general average and salvage cases and arbitrations. Mr. Naschitz has advised on transactions involving ship acquisitions and financings. On numerous occasions, Mr. Naschitz has been appointed as a receiver for the sale of ships by the courts and by the Government. Over the years, Mr. Naschitz has represented several leading international banking institutions and has provided general advice, including as to local and international sophisticated transactions. In addition, Mr. Naschitz has represented these institutions in all aspects of litigation. Mr. Naschitz heads the firm’s civil litigation practice, focusing on tort, contract, banking, administrative, class actions and intellectual property issues. Mr. Naschitz appears regularly before all courts countrywide and in international arbitrations – and has been involved in many landmark decisions. Mr. Naschitz spends much time in promoting public activities concerning these areas. He has lectured in the Tel-Aviv, Bar Ilan and Jerusalem Universities, as well as in foreign universities, seminars and conventions. He is the President of the Israel Maritime Law Association, the President of the Israeli branch of AIDA (Association Internationale de Droit d’Assurance), and Vice President of the AIDA World Organization, a member of AIPPI (International Association for Protection of Industrial Property), a member of the United States Trademark Association, a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Southwestern Institute of Arbitrators, and an Associate Member of the American Bar Association. Mr. Naschitz is also Honorary Consul General of Iceland in Israel, the Dean of the Israel Consular Corps and Past World President of FICAC - the International Federation of Consular Corps and Associations. He is also chairman of the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition. Born in Hungary, Mr. Naschitz received LL.B. and LL.M. degrees from Tel-Aviv University. He is fluent in Hebrew, English, French, German and Hungarian. |
